Your own money, in one place
The private side is not a stripped-down business account. It answers one question: what is left at the end of the month once everything that falls due anyway has been paid.
What is actually left at the end of the month
There are 4,200 francs in the account. Only 900 of them are free, because the rent, the health insurance and three subscriptions are still to go out. The private side works out those 900 instead of showing you the 4,200.
The balance does not lie, but it misleads
It says what is there today, not how much of it is yours. ELMOF subtracts what is still due this month and shows the rest. That is the figure you can steer by.
Several accounts, one overview
Salary account, savings account, cash in your wallet. Each with its own balance, all of them as one total.
Recording entries
Money in or money out, the amount, the date, a short description. Nothing more is needed. There are no account numbers and no bookkeeping words here.
A transfer is not an expense
Move 500 francs from your salary account to your savings account and you are no poorer. ELMOF treats that as a transfer: your total is unchanged, only the distribution moves. Many apps count it as spending and distort every summary from then on.
What goes out regardless
A large part of the monthly pay is already spoken for before it arrives. Record these items once and you never have to gather them again.
Fixed payments
Rent, health insurance, other insurance, mobile plan, streaming, club membership. With an amount and a due date, monthly, quarterly, half yearly or annually.
Tick off what is paid
You see what is still open this month and what has been dealt with. From the rhythm and the last date the app works out the next one.
No forced entry
A fixed payment is an expectation, not an entry. It appears in the preview without anything being booked. What you actually want to record, you record yourself.
Saving towards something
Saving without a target is chance. An amount and a date turn it into something you can follow.
Target amount and target date
A savings account gets both: how much and by when. The holiday in July, replacing the washing machine, the rainy day fund.
Progress as one figure
What percentage is there, how many days are left. No chart, no savings curve, one figure that tells you whether it will be enough.
Free, permanently, without a business
The private side is not a stripped down business account and not a trial. It costs nothing and does not expire.
No subscription, no trial period
No expiry date, no payment details, no advertising. At first start you choose Private instead of Business, and that is that.
Without any business at all
You need no trade and no self employment. If you are employed and simply want to know where the money goes, this is for you.
Set up a business later
Then the business side is added and the private side stays exactly as it is. Nothing is merged.
The same security
PIN, Face ID, encrypted backup, everything offline on your device. Nothing different applies to the private side than to the business.
Why it stays apart
Private and business are kept apart. There is no combined report, no sync and no figure that moves from one side to the other on its own. This is not a setting that could be flipped but a fixed rule in how the app is built.
A single place connects the two, and it asks every time: if you run a sole proprietorship and take money out of the business, you are asked whether the amount should also be recorded privately. Say yes and a separate entry with the same amount appears on the private side. Say no and nothing happens. The two entries stay independent afterwards: change one and the other does not follow.
Without a business, without a subscription
You need no business and no subscription. On first launch you choose “Private” instead of “Business”, and that is it. If you add a business later, the private side stays as it is.
